| Austin City Limits
will air a The Jayhwaks episode ( also featuring Gillian Welch)
nationally January 3, 2004 on PBS (please check local listings). This
episode is part of Austin City Limits' 29th season which began airing Oct.
11. Austin City Limits' Web site features a transcript of a post-show
interview with the artist and will soon feature a video clip preview of the
show and much more. New contents are added to the site daily.
If you go to www.losthighwayrecords.com and
click on the box there that says "Coming 9/23" it brings up a fuzzy scan of the
track listing for a compilation they are putting out called "Lost and Found Vol.
1". One of the tracks is The Jayhawks "Falling Star" and is described there as
being "from the forthcoming rerelease The Jayhawks (Bunkhouse LP)"!
The
Jayhawks has recently finished a more than a month long tour
with The Thorns. Right before
the last tour started (June 21st) they filmed the first video
from the new album, of course "Save It For A Rainy Day" starring Mary-Louise Parker.
Their gig at Austin City Limits festival will be aired this
fall, and Jayhawks will appear at @ Late Night with Conan O'Brien on 8/5.
It's some rumours about an European "Save
it for a rainy day" CD-single with live versions of the
same song and "Tailspin" from the Woman's Club bootleg,
and an previously unreleased demo named "Save Me From Myself". Can
someone fill me in on this 'cause I haven't seen it...
Rainy
Day Music debuted on #51 on Billboard, which indicates about 19000 units
sold the first week. The official
site is now up and running. You can listen to 7 live songs and
an interview on NPR.
Restless Records/Ryko rereleased "Blue Earth"
April 22nd with three previously unreleased tracks. These are "Fingernail
Moon", "Two Minute Pop Song" and "Nightshade".
According to a Norwegian (!) newspaper the self-titled
album will be released on CD for the first time. This will be the beginning
of a box-set. If anyone has any more information on this, please use
the mail button at the bottom of this page.
Some interesting interviews are starting to pop up on the internet.
One is from Star
Tribune, and another from St.
Paul Pioneer Press. Please use the e-mail link at the bottom of
the page if you discover some interviews that everyone should know about.
The Jayhawks seems to get good reviews for their return to the '69.
Q gave Rainy Days Songs 4 out of 5. A kind of super group named The
Thorns (consisting of Matthew Sweet, Pete Droge and Shawn Mullins) does
a cover of Blue on their forthcoming album. It will be released in May.
The track list for "Rainy Say Music" is now chosen with "Save
it for a Rainy Day" as the first single. There will also be released
